An item not listed should be clarified before booking. In particular, Silver's room and lighting should not be read as a promise of the same camera, microphone and operator package supplied with Gold.
The room should fit the conversation
Choose the set around the people who will appear in the recording. Finchley's Dialogue Set is a soundproof, pre-lit space for conversations between two and four people. The Lounge Set accommodates up to five people on camera in a lounge-style setting.
“Pre-lit” means lighting is already installed for production. Your seating, props and visual preferences still need to suit the shots you want. Tell the studio about everyone attending, including any crew who will remain off camera, so the full arrangement can be checked.
Equipment matters because of what it lets you make
Finchley's booking FAQ lists Panasonic Lumix cameras and lenses, LED lighting, Shure and RØDE microphones, and a Blackmagic ATEM switcher as Gold equipment. Rather than choosing by brand names alone, explain the recording you need.
For an interview, you may want a view of both speakers together and closer views of each person. For a panel, the priority may be making every contributor clearly visible and audible. Confirm the camera and microphone configuration for your actual group.
A switcher selects between camera feeds during production. Its presence does not, by itself, tell you whether you will receive separate camera files, a switched recording, or both. Agree the deliverables with the team, especially if another editor will work on them.
What does the engineer take care of?
Gold and Platinum for Dialogue and Lounge include a senior engineer running cameras, lighting and sound. That gives the host someone else to manage the technical recording while they listen and lead the discussion.
You still need to provide the content: the subject, questions, guest details and any wording that must be delivered accurately. A technical recording package does not automatically include research, scriptwriting or editorial direction.
Platinum's teleprompter displays prepared words near the camera lens, helping a presenter read while looking towards the audience. It can be useful for introductions, training material or scripted messages. An unscripted interview may only need an outline.
What happens after recording?
The three-day cloud delivery and 30-day backup listed for these Gold and Platinum packages concern the recorded files. Download and check your material when it arrives, and keep your own copies for future use.
For a finished programme, discuss Finchley's editing options. Specify the episode length, audio and video versions, graphics, captions, extracts and approval process you need. Do not assume that social clips or publishing to your podcast platform come with the recording session.
