Live switching chooses camera angles during the recording. Post-production editing makes those choices afterwards. Both can produce a watchable podcast, but they offer different levels of speed, flexibility and editorial control.

What live switching delivers
A vision mixer selects the active camera feed as people speak, creating a programme recording in real time. This can reduce later assembly work for a straightforward conversation.
The resulting file still reflects the live decisions. An awkward cut, interruption or incorrect graphic will remain unless a later edit corrects it. A switched recording is not automatically a fully checked, publishable episode.
What post-production adds
An editor can remove sections, refine pacing, choose reactions and build a narrative using the separate camera and audio sources. Colour matching, sound finishing, titles and social extracts can also be part of the agreed scope.
That flexibility needs suitable source files and additional labour. Confirm whether the studio will supply individual camera recordings, separate microphone tracks and any useful project information. The existence of a switcher does not establish what will be delivered.
Consider a combined workflow
A live cut can serve as a starting point while separate recordings preserve options for corrections. This approach can work well for recurring shows, provided the team agrees the capture, revision and export process in advance.
Choose by asking what the audience needs and how much editorial shaping the material will require. A tightly structured discussion has different needs from a sensitive interview that will be shortened substantially.

How Finchley Studios handles this
Describe the finished episode you expect, rather than asking only for multi-camera recording. Finchley can discuss recording and post-production as separate parts of the project. Confirm whether your quote includes live switching, source-camera delivery, a finished edit or a combination of these before booking.
