The right camera count depends on the number of speakers and the views your editor needs. More cameras create more options, but also add equipment, matching, storage and editing work.

Start with the format
A solo presentation may work with one well-composed view. A two-person interview often benefits from a wide shot and individual views of the host and guest. Larger panels may need shared shots or additional cameras depending on the room and budget.
Do not equate one camera with one guest automatically. Plan the actual shots: who appears together, which reactions matter and what the viewer should see when participants overlap.
Make the views work together
Keep eyelines and screen direction understandable as the programme cuts between speakers. Match exposure and colour so the image does not change noticeably with every cut.
Camera positions must work with lighting, microphones and the set. A technically possible angle may show unwanted equipment or make guests turn away from one another.
Decide how the cameras will be recorded
Ask whether the setup delivers separate camera recordings, a live-switched programme or both. The answer affects later corrections and the ability to build social extracts.
Confirm the resolution and recording duration across every required source. If vertical clips are important, check that each speaker has usable framing rather than relying solely on a wide group view.
The best setup supplies the shots you will use reliably. Extra angles that do not improve the programme can create work without adding meaningful value.

How Finchley Studios handles this
Finchley's Dialogue page lists three-camera equipment in its typical Gold and Platinum setup, with additional cameras available to discuss. Share your speaker layout, desired views and social formats so the team can confirm suitable coverage. The camera count and source-file delivery should be part of the agreed recording specification.
