Choosing a multi-guest podcast studio is about the relationship between seating, microphones and camera views. Capacity is a starting point, but the room must also support a comfortable conversation and a workable production layout.

Count speakers and observers separately
List everyone appearing on microphone, then the wider production team. Ask the studio to confirm the arrangement for that complete group. Do not add observers to the advertised speaker count without checking.
Consider the format: a host interviewing one person, a three-way discussion and a larger panel need different sightlines. Speakers should be able to address one another without turning away from microphones repeatedly.
Assess sound and camera coverage together
Each participant needs a suitable microphone position. With several open microphones, room reflections and spill can make the edit more complex. Ask how the setup handles overlapping speech and level differences.
For video, decide whether every person needs a close-up or whether some can share a shot. The room needs space for cameras and lighting without blocking movement or making guests feel crowded.
Check the complete workflow
Remote contributors add another source and listening requirement. Branding, teleprompting and changes between episodes may also affect the layout. Share those needs before settling on a room.
Ask what files the setup will produce, who runs the equipment and how long preparation takes. A set that looks right but cannot support the agreed coverage can create avoidable compromises later.
